Green Point, Sea Point and the Waterfront itself are the areas crew walk around after dark without much thought. Woodstock and De Waterkant are fine in daylight and on main roads, but the crew guides consistently say stick to groups and main streets at night. Is Cape Town a hiring hub?
No. It is where South Africans get certified cheaply, then fly north. Do the certificates and the visas here, and aim to be in Antibes or Palma in early March.
What does a bed cost in Cape Town?
Neither dedicated crew house publishes a rate. Below crew house level, backpacker hostels near the Waterfront run roughly R900 to R1,200 a night. never@home in Green Point starts around R924 and MOY Accommodation around R1,020.
Which schools run their own crew house?
Only Ocean Star Sailing, whose bunk bed dorms sit inside the school building at 14 West Quay Road. Certified Superyacht Academy and Get Onboard email students a referral list instead, and Yachtmaster's practical course accommodation is aboard the training yacht itself.
